Books you can make decisions from
Bookkeeping has a reputation as a chore you do for the tax preparer. It is genuinely more useful than that. Current books answer questions you cannot otherwise answer: whether last quarter was actually profitable, which expenses have quietly grown, whether you can afford to hire, and how much of the money in the account is really yours versus already owed.
We handle monthly bookkeeping for small businesses. Categorizing transactions, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, tracking receivables and payables, and producing profit and loss statements and balance sheets you can actually read. When something looks unusual, we ask about it during the month rather than discovering it in March.
If your records have fallen behind, cleanup is its own engagement and a common one. We rebuild from statements, sort out what was misclassified, and get you to a current, reconciled starting point. From there, staying current is a routine monthly rhythm rather than an annual scramble.
The practical payoff arrives at filing time: your return is prepared from books that are already reconciled, which makes it faster, cheaper, and far easier to defend if anyone asks questions later.

The Process
How ongoing bookkeeping works
Most engagements start with a cleanup, then settle into a monthly rhythm.
- 01
Setup or Cleanup
We review your current records, fix what is miscategorized, reconcile back to your statements, and establish a clean starting point.
- 02
Monthly Maintenance
Transactions are categorized and accounts reconciled each month. We raise questions as they come up rather than saving them for year end.
- 03
Reporting & Review
You get statements you can read, plus a year-end package your return is prepared from directly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Questions we hear often about bookkeeping & accounting services. If yours is not here, ask us directly, the consultation is free.
We work with the common small business platforms and can also work directly from bank and credit card statements if you are not using software yet. If you are choosing a system for the first time, we will recommend one that fits the size and complexity of your business rather than the most expensive option.
With a cleanup engagement. We work backward from your bank and credit card statements to rebuild the missing period, correct what was categorized incorrectly, and reconcile to a known-good position. Once you are current, ongoing monthly work keeps it that way.
Software records transactions; it does not judge them. It cannot tell whether an expense was categorized correctly, whether a deposit was income or a transfer, or whether your balance actually reconciles to the bank. That review is the part that makes books trustworthy at tax time.
No. Bookkeeping stands on its own and we are glad to deliver a clean year-end package to whoever prepares your return. That said, having both handled together removes a round of back-and-forth and tends to catch discrepancies sooner.
Less than doing it yourself, by a wide margin. Typically it is sending us statement access and answering a short list of questions about transactions we could not categorize with confidence. Most clients spend a few minutes a month on it.
Yes. Bookkeeping is fully remote work. We access your records securely, deliver reports electronically, and review them with you by phone or video. Your location makes no practical difference.
